What's Your Gummy Profile?
Japanese gummies come in all shapes and sizes. More importantly, they come in an incredible variety of textures and flavors.
On the flavor side, the spectrum ranges from intensely sweet and fruity to eye-squinting sour, with every variation somewhere in between. Some gummies deliver an immediate burst of flavor, while others slowly reveal different flavor notes as you chew.
Then there’s texture — arguably the true heart of Japanese gummy culture.
Some gummies are ultra-soft, fluffy, and delicate. A great example would be UHA’s Mochu series. These gummies are so soft that we even have to be careful where and when we ship them around the world, especially during hotter seasons.
On the opposite end, you have gummies officially marketed as “hard” by the manufacturers themselves. Famous examples include Kabaya’s TOUGH gummy series, Meiji’s THE HARD gummies, and Nobel’s KATA series. These gummies are dense, firm, and designed for a long-lasting chew experience.
Hard gummies are especially popular in Japan among students, office workers, drivers, and gamers tackling long hours of concentration. The firmer texture naturally makes both the chewing and flavor experience last longer overall.
And somewhere between soft, hard, sweet, and sour is an entire world of gummy experimentation waiting to be discovered.
So where do you fall within the gummy spectrum?
